Lesson 50 : Protect Presentation

“Encrypting a Document”

We have a number of options to protect our presentation against unauthorised people.
The first way to do this is to provide a password.
Just click the “Office” button at the top left of the window, click “Prepare” and select the “Encrypt Document” option.

This opens a dialog box where a password is requested.
Enter a password and click OK.
A second dialog box appears where you will be prompted to enter the password again.
Enter the password again and click OK.
Attention! If you forget the password , you can neither view nor edit this file, later.

“Mark as final” option
A second way to protect your presentation is, with the halp of the “Mark as final” option.
If you select this option, a dialog box opens stating that your presentation will be marked as final and then saved.
Click OK if this is what you want.
A second dialog box appears, where you must confirm this option by clicking OK.
At the bottom of the application window, an icon appears in the status bar.

The difference between the previous option and this, is that in this option, you can view your presentation, but you cannot make any changes.

3. Digital Signature

A third way to ‘protect’ your presentation is with the “Add a Digital Signature” option.
It does not promise much protection but, this can be thought of as a signature that you place below a letter.

If you select this option, you first see a dialog with your data.

Click the “Create” button when you are satisfied with this. If this is not the case, you can customize it.

In the second dialog box you will have to enter a purpose for signing this document.
For example, an attachment to a colleague who must approve the presentation.

And in the third dialog box, you confirm it again.

If you clicked on the OK button, the “Signatures” panel opens on the right side of the application window.
When you click on the name of the signature and click the downward pointing arrow that appears, you have the option to view details of the signer and the signature or to delete them.

An icon is displayed in the Status bar at the bottom. When clicked, the “Signatures” panel opens on the right side of the application window.
