Move “Legend”

When we create a chart, the legend will be on the right side of the chart. If we want to change this, we select the chart first and we click the “Legend” button in the “Layout” tab in the “Chart Tools”.

This opens a drop-down menu with seven options. All seem to be clear and do not need any further explanation.
Under the option “More Legend Options”, we have a number of settings for changing layout of our “Legend”.

“Data Labels”

Depending on the data in our chart, we can add data labels.

Click on the “Data Labels” button under the “Format” tab of the “Chart Tools”.

Choose one of the options in the drop-down menu.
The options in the drop-down menu depend on the chart type selected.

We have a number of options under “More Data label options”.

“Data Table”

We can add the table with data to our chart.
Whether this chart is in another worksheet or in its own worksheet, that does not matter.
Click on the “Data Table” button in the “Layout” tab in the “Chart Tools”.
In the Data Table drop-down menu there are three options:
“None”, “Show data Table”, and “Show Data Table with Legend Keys”.

The data table is placed below the chart.
A data table can only be added to Column, Line, Bar and Plane charts.

Changing Chart Axes

By clicking on the “Axes” button in the “Layout” tab in the “Chart Tools”, we can display or hide the vertical axis (Y axis) and the horizontal axis (X axis).
For the horizontal axis we have four options.
For the vertical axis we have six options.
All seem to be clear.

Adding and Removing “Gridlines”

By default vertical grid lines will be addes to our graph.
By clicking on the “Gridlines” in the “Layout” tab in the “Chart Tools”, we can add or delete both vertical and horizontal grid lines.

Formatting chart items

To format an item from the chart , first select the item.
Select the “Format” tab in the “Chart Tools”
In the “Format” tab we have five groups:

  1. “Current Selection”
In the “Current Selection” group, we can select the item by clicking the downward pointing arrow button. This opens a drop-down menu in which all our items in our chart are listed.
  2. “Shape Styles”
  3. “WordArt Styles”
  4. “Arrange”
  5. “Size”

The formatting from the “Shape Styles” and “WordArt Styles” groups have the Live preview.

“Delete” chart

To delete a chart, select the chart, and press Delete button on your keyboard.
To remove a chart in his own worksheet, right click the worksheet tab, and select “Delete”. Excel will ask if you’re sure of this, once it is removed you can not go back, not even with the “Undo” button.

Print Charts

If we want to print the chart that is in the worksheet of our data, first select the chart, click the “Office” button on the top left of the ribbon, choose “Print”, and “Quick Print”.
If you want to adjust settings for print, select “Print” instead  of “Quick Print”.
This opens a dialog where we can enter a number of options.
For example, the number.
If we wish to see a preview of how our print would look like, click the “Print Preview” button.
This opens a window with the preview.
Click the “Print” button if you are satisfied.

If we want to print a chart in its own worksheet, first open the spreadsheet, and then follow the above actions.
