Lesson 14: AutoFormat

14/57 Lessons

AutoFormat As You Type

The AutoFormat As You Type option, does what it says, it formats the typed text, as soon as you type it.
For example, type a 1 plus a dot, followed by a space.
AutoFormat will consider this as a numbered list. Note that the number 1 is no longer at the far left of the document, but that this is provided with a recess, and that your cursor is now further away from the 1.

Also the button “AutoCorrect Options”.
When we click this we have three options.
The first option allows us to undo the automatic numbering.
The second option, we can disable the automatic numbering.
And clicking on the third option shows the dialog “AutoCorrect” in which the tab “AutoFormat As You Type” is selected.

Change AutoFormat

The same dialog can be accessed by clicking the Office Button and selecting “Word Options”.
Choose the tab “Proofing”, click the button “AutoCorrect Options …” and choose the tab “AutoFormat As You Type”.
We can turn all options in this tab either on or off by clicking on it. This seem to be quite clear and needs no further explanation.
Click OK at the bottom of the dialog if all of your options are set.
