The “Quick Access” toolbar

Also new in Word 2007 is the “Quick Access” toolbar.
We find The “Quick Access” toolbar right next to the Office Button in the Title bar.
We have the possibility to place this toolbar below the ribbon.
You do this by right clicking and choosing “Show below the Ribbon” from the drop-down menu.
We repeat this to place the “Quick Access” toolbar above the ribbon.

By default, the buttons “Save”, “Undo” and “Retry”appear in this toolbar.
We have the ability to add and remove buttons from the “Quick Access” toolbar.

One way to add buttons to the “Quick Access” toolbar, is by right-clicking a command button in the ribbon, and choosing “Add to Quick Access Toolbar” from the drop-down menu.
The quickest way to remove buttons from the toolbar “Quick Access” is by right-clicking these and selecting “Remove from Quick Access Toolbar”.

A second way is by clicking the downward pointing arrow button next to the Quick Access Toolbar, and select “More Commands …”.
This opens the dialog “Word Options” where the tab “Customize” is selected.

On the right we have a list of all commands in Word.
Select the button that you want to add to the Quick Access Toolbar, and click the “Add” button.
On the left we find all the buttons that are currently in the Quick Access toolbar.
To delete a button, select it in the list on the right and click the “Remove” button.
In both cases click the OK button when you’re done.

Clicking on the downward pointing arrow next to the Quick Access Toolbar, also, gives us a list of the most popular commands in Word.
If you wish to add or remove a command button, you just click here.

The ruler

The ruler allows us to place tabs in our document, to determine the position of the text.
Depending on the view of our document, the ruler may be displayed differently.
For example, the ruler can be seen horizontally and vertically if we have chosen the Print view, and only the horizontal ruler is seen if we have chosen the Draft view.

You can show or hide the rulers by clicking on the “Ruler” right of the vertical scroll bar.

Or we could also click the tab “View” in the ribbon, and then uncheck the box next to the option “Ruler” .

The ruler and tabs are fully discussed in the lesson when we use it.
The only thing you must remember is how to show or hide the ruler.
