Lesson 51 : Notes

51/57 Lessons

Add Comment

Comments into a document may be helpful to our ideas, notes, etc to disclose, without that we had to make changes in a document.
To insert a comment in our paper, we first place the cursor in our document on the place where we want to insert.
Choose the tab “Review” in the ribbon, and click the button “New Comment”.
This opens the Reviewing Pane to the left of our document.

Our cursor is now automatically covered by our first comment in the Reviewing Pane.
To add comments, you just start typing.
When you have typed the comment, click anywhere in your document, no matter where.
You can review the window by clicking the X, at the top right.

You also have the opportunity to display your comments in a balloon.
Click on the button “Balloons” in the ribbon, and select “Show Revisions in Balloons”.

Display comments

We have already seen that we can view the comments in the Reviewing Pane to the left of our document, and balloons on the right side of the window.
But there is a third way.
Click on the button “Balloons” in the ribbon, and choose the option “Show All Revisions Inline”.

This shows only our observation when we hover over our comment.

Editing Notes

If our observation is shown in the Reviewing Pane, or in a balloon, we only have to click the comment in the Reviewing Pane or balloon, to change it.
However, when displayed in the text, you must right click the mouse and select “Edit Field” in the drop-down menu.
This will open the Reviewing pane where the comment has already been selected.

Delete Comment

To delete a comment, we have two possibilities.
The first is this, remark by right-clicking and selecting “Delete Comment” in the drop-down menu.
And the second option is to select the comment in your document, click the “c” button in the ribbon, and again choose “Remove” in the drop-down menu.

The first way seems to be the fastest.

Responding to a comment

Do you want to reply to a comment that your colleague has left, then select the comment in your document, and click the button “New Comment”.
This places your comment in the comment of your colleagues’.
You can immediately start typing your comment.

Navigating between the various comments

To navigate between the various comments, click the buttons “Previous” and “Next” under the tab “Review” in the ribbon.
If you reached the last comment in your document, and accidentaly clicked on “Next” button, you will be asked if you want to continue from the beginning of the document.
