Create envelopes

To print the recipient on a envelope select the tab “Mailings” in the ribbon, and click the button “Envelopes”.
This opens the dialog “Envelopes and Labels” with two tabs, the the tab “Envelopes” is selected by default.

If we have the name and address of the recipient in our letter, and we selected this before we clicked the “Envelopes” button in the ribbon, it will be automatically entered in the “Delivery address”.
If this is not the case, you can simply type this.

The sender, in this case, which is myself, is also filled out automatically.
Now you’re thinking, how Word nows know who the sender is
Well, he doesn’t know this.
But you can set this.
Click the Office Button at the top left of the ribbon, and click the “Word Options”.
Choose the “Advanced” tab, and at the bottom of the “Mailing Address” box type the name and address of the sender.

If the address of the sender is already printed on your envelopes, check the box “Omit”.
When this is checked you can see in the preview section that it has been omitted.
To print the envelope, click the “Print” button.

Options

When we print envelopes, we have some options that we can set.
Just click the “Options” button in the dialog “Envelopes and Labels”.
This opens the dialog “Envelope Options”:
In this dialog we have two tabs:

1. Envelope Options:

  • In the top box, you select the envelope size by clicking on the downward pointing arrow.
  • The font for the addressee and sender. Clicking on the button “Font” opens a new dialog where the font, size, color, and some effects can be entered.
  • And the position where the text will be printed.

2. Printing:
In the second tab, “Printing options” we set the printing options. The print options are based on the printer where the envelope is printed.

In the top section of this tab choose an input method.
Word brings up a proposal, but you can always change it by clicking another option.

You have the options “Face Up” or “Face down”.
The option “Clockwise rotation”.
And the option for the “Feed From”.

Some of these are clearly displayed in the preview.
Others you should be printed on a plain sheet of paper, to be able to see this.

Click the OK button when you’re done.

In the dialog “Envelopes and Labels” you can add the envelope to your document.
Click on the button “Add to Document”.
This adds the envelope to your document as the first page.
