10/65 Lessons

ProShow Producer allows you to transfer music directly from a CD. In this lesson we are going to add 2 songs from a CD and then trim them.

New show

  • Create a new show titled “Show 8_Antwerp” by clicking [File]- New Show, changing the title in the popup menu to “Show 8_Antwerp” and retaining the aspect ratio at 4:3. Then click [Create].
  • We choose the built-in explorer “Exercise 08”. We select all the photos and drag them to the slide list. The slide duration is set at 6.5 sec and the transition times at 2 sec. Just select all the slides, using Ctrl + A, and then change the times in the corresponding boxes.

Title slide

  • We place a title slide in the beginning of the show. Move the mouse pointer on the first slide, right click and select Insert- Title Slide.
The following illustration shows the necessary settings for the text.

Click [OK] to close this window.

End slide

  • At the end of the show we insert a title slide. Place the cursor after the show, right click and select Insert- Title Slide.
Enter the text as shown in this illustration.

Click [OK] to close this window.

Transitions

  • Here also we select random transitions. Select all the slides using (Ctrl + A) right click and select Randomize- Randomize Transitions.

Random motions

  • We also select random motion effects for all the slides. Select all the slides again (Ctrl + A), right click and select Randomize- Randomize Motion Effects- Pan.

Copying Music from a CD

  • In this show we will use sound tracks from a CD. Insert the CD into your CD reader. Move the mouse pointer to the empty “Soundtrack” section at the bottom and double click. This opens the following window.

In the “Soundtrack Tools” window you have the [Save Music From CD] button. This is necessary to copy the music. Click on it and the following window opens.

On this window you will see the following:

  • CD Drive: indicates the identity of your CD reader.
  • Track info: This one hooks up to the Internet to try and get artist and track information. For our Dutch music this is usually not available.
  • Available Audio Tracks: Contains the list of tracks on the CD.
  • Track Options: Import: If this is selected, the track (s) are imported to the show soundtrack.
  • Format: One can choose between 2 formats, MP3 or OGG.

Points to Remember:

  • Not only will the track be imported to the show but it will also be placed in a folder that you can select, and it will be stored in the selected format.
  • ProShow provides an MP3 format with a bitrate of 128 Kbps.
To start the conversion process, click on [Save Track]. The selected track is both in the show and the folder.

Trimming Music

  • We are now going to trim this track. Double click on the “Soundtrack” and select Show Options- Music- Show Soundtrack in the popup menu, and then click on [Edit Fades and Timing].
With the options we trim the music track and we select the “fade out” option.

  • We now copy the second track from the CD. Double click on the Soundtrack bar and then click [Save Music From CD]. Select the 2nd track and click [Save Track]. This track is now placed after the 1st one and is also saved as an MP3 in the same folder.
  • We also trim this track, in the same way we did the previous one.

In this way, we can import different tracks and perform very sophisticated trimming to achieve the desired result.

Saving the Show

  • We now save the show: Select [File]- Save As.
With the explorer, we select the appropriate folder. Change the File Name to “Show 8_Antwerp” and click [Save].

EXE file without a button

We need to add some more components to make a movie out of it. We save the final result as an “EXE” file with no buttons and no title.
Just click [Create Output] on the toolbar at the top. In the window that appears, select [PC Executable]. In the popup menu you have the “Menu” tab with the theme “no menus”.

Click on [Create] and place the show in the correct folder on your PC and give it the proper name “Oefening8_Antwerpen” and then click [Save].
The movie will be created.
Then you’re asked whether you want to see the result, click [Yes] and you can automatically view this show.
