Lesson 25: Show 21: Visual effect with movement

25/65 Lessons

Here we combine a PSD file, and a picture file.

New show

  • Create a new show titled “Show 21_Koala”. Click [File]> New Show; change the title in the Show Title text box to “Show 21_Koala” in the window that appears and retain the aspect ratio at 4:3. Click [Create].

White background

  • First we create a new slide with a white background.
By right clicking the slide list, you can select [Insert] and then select [blank slide]. On the slide list we get a black square with a transition. Now we want to have a white background.
Double-click the slide and select [Slide Options]> [Slide]> [Background]. In the [Background Type] section select  the [On / Off] checkbox.
In [Type], we select the radio button, [Solid Color]. We click the [Set] button and from the color wheel, we select white (RGB value = 255/255/255; value in HEX = FFFFFF). We then click [Set Color].
You will see a white background in the preview.
    Click [OK].

Chenging the Slide duration

  • The duration of the slide is set at 10 sec.

Photos on slide as layers

  • Drag the picture “Koala 1” which was used in Lesson 21 and the psd file, “Koala 2” to the slide list on the slide as layers.
Thus, select both photos, with the [Shift] key, and hold down the [Ctrl] key while dragging them.

Fill frame

  • Now in the layer, “Koala 1”, we completely fill the frame. Double-click the slide and select [Layers]> [Layers Settings]. Here you will see 2 layers. We select the layer, “Koala 1”. In the [Scaling] option select [Fill Frame] from the drop down menu.

Photo resizing and framing

  • We will now reduce the size and frame the photo, “Koala 2”. Click on the layer “Koala 2”.
Click [Layers]> [Layers Settings], and set the [Zoom] at 70%, the [Position] at 0 x 0 (or click the [Reset] button) and the select [Layers]> [Editing] and select a color for the [Outline] with the help of the color wheel, select the white [Color] and the [Size] as 5.

Positioning and zooming

  • Then we shift and zoom the layer, “Koala 1” a little, as a motion effect. Click on the layer, “Koala 1”. Select [Layers]> [Layer Settings] and set the [Position] at 20 x 0 (you can also drag the picture with the mouse and thus shift it). Then select [Effects]> [Motion Effects]. The [Zoom] is set at 100% and 125% at the starting and ending positions respectively. This creates the motion.

Artistic colors

  • For the more artistic people among us, we are going to have a fade effect for the “Koala 1” layer. In the [Layers]> [Editing] tab we select the box, [Colorize] and with the color wheel, we select a light blue color (RGB = 138/148/180).
So, now everything is as we want it to be, so we click [OK] to exit.

Saving the show

  • Save this project under the name “Show 21_Koala”.
Click [File]> [Save As], navigate with the browser, to the correct folder where you want to save this project and if necessary change the File Name to “Show 21_Koala”.
