Lesson 17: Show 14: Using transparent images

17/65 Lessons

Here we obtain a 3D effect by making use of transparent images.

New show

  • Create a new show titled “Show 14_Airplane show” by clicking [File]> New Show, changing the Show Title to “Show 14_Airplane show” in the popup menu and retaining the aspect ratio at 4:3. Then click [Create].

Inserting Layers

  • Go to the “Folder List” to “Show 14_Transparant layers”, select the short film “Clouds.mpg” and drag it to the slide list. The slide duration is adjusted to the length of this film.
  • Set the transition time to 0 sec.
  • Select “aircraft to the ground” from lesson 14 and drag it to the slide as an additional layer keeping the [Ctrl] key pressed.
  • Select the “Airplane” layer and drag it as an extra layer on the slide.

Ordering Layers

  • Click [Layers] button on the menu bar on top. In the [Layers Settings] tab, make sure that the layers are in the correct sequence. Layer 1 is “Airplane”, layer 2 is “Airplane on the ground” and layer 3  is “Clouds”. If this is not the case, put them in their correct places.

Flipping the Photo horizontally

  • For layer 1, we invert the plane. Select [Layer]> [Editing]. In the “Editing tools” section and select the “Horizontal” check box under “Flip”.

Adding Motion effects:

  • We will let the plane take off from right to left while giving the illusion that it is coming closer. Select [Effects]> [Motion effects], select the layer, “Airplane” and move the plane in the left pane to the right, above the center section of the pane. Move the plane in the right pane to the upper left corner.

Rotation

  • In both cases, we rotate the plane slightly upward.
Left Screen: rotate = 90 degrees
Screen Right: rotate = 180 degrees

Zoom

  • In the “Starting Position”, we place the zoom slider at 35% and in the “Ending Position” at 45%.

Accelerate

  • The ascent is an acceleration and therefore we select the [Accelerate] option for “Motion Speed”.
  • The settings can be seen in this picture.
