Photoshop - CS2 - CS3

Lesson 10: Working with Adobe Bridge

10/85 Lessons

The Bridge 2.0

The “Bridge”, I think, was first introduced in version 7 of Photoshop under the name of File Browser. So that’s a while ago.
Meanwhile, with the Photoshop CS3 version, we are already at Bridge 2.0.
The Bridge is a standalone application that comes free with the Photoshop program and with that we can search, organize, view, delete our files and I do not know what else.
So why not use it, even more, why not use it efficiently?
To open “Bridge”, click “File” – “Browse” in the menu bar or click the “Bridge” button les10_image01_en
in the far right in the Options bar.
If it is the first time you are using the Bridge, you are more than likely to view everything on your desktop in the “Content” section of the “Bridge”.

Click the “Folders” tab (top left of the window) and navigate to the folder on your harddisk where your photos are stored.
The images of all files stored in this folder are displayed:

“Thumbnails” (Thumbnail Display)les10_image04_en

We can increase or decrease the size of the thumbnails by dragging the slider at the bottom.
A second way is by clicking on the buttons Ctrl + or Ctrl – on your keyboard.
Select a thumbnail and you will see a larger version of it in the Preview section of the Bridge.
By clicking and dragging the edges of the different parts in our window, we can adjust the size.

The quality of the thumbnails is of lesser value than the picture that you see in the Preview section.
We can customize it by clicking on “Edit” – “Preferences” from the menu bar and selecting the “Thumbnails” tab.
In the dialog, we select “Convert To High Quality When previewed”. I think this is the best setting.
The first setting “Quick Thumbnails” is fast but gives a poor quality display.
The second setting “High Quality Thumbnails” gives a good quality display, but is slow.
So I choose the third option, to work quickly and with good quality when I select a particular thumbnail.

If you wish, you can enter a number of settings, in the “Details”, that you want to display under the thumbnail.
In the above setting, it is only the author and the dimensions, but you can also choose the date or the size in MB, or keywords, there are too many to mention. You have to look.
Click OK when you are satisfied.

Awesome!
