Lesson 49: Layer Styles

49/85 Lessons

Layer Styles (Layer Styles)

Layer Styles make it possible to carry out different effects on the content of the layer.
We can use the styles that come along with Photoshop and we can create our own styles.

When we apply a style to a layer, a “fx” icon appears on the right side of the layer.
Clicking on the arrow next to the icon, folds or unfolds the list of the different styles used.

To apply a style, click the “Layer Style” at the bottom of the “Layer” palette, or click “Layer” – “Layer Style” from the menu bar.
Or a third option, by right clicking the layer and select “Blending Options” …
Whatever you do, a dialog appears:

We can apply several styles to a layer.
Each style has several options.

Check the box “Preview”, you can see what you’re doing in the picture.
If you are not satisfied or do you not want to add a style, click the Cancel button.
If you are satisfied, click the OK button.

In subsequent lessons we will work more with layer styles, but now we already know what it is when I talk about Layer Styles.
