Lesson 56: Text (7)

Text on a path (2)

To add the text below our picture, we begin the same way.
First, make the path visible again by selecting the layer in the “Path” Palette.
We select the second text in the text image by double clicking the icon on the right side of the layer.
Then click on “Edit” – “Copy” in the menu bar or click Ctrl + C on your keyboard.

Select the text tool, click the “Center Text” button in the Options bar.
Move the mouse pointer over the curved path until it changes to “I”.
Once you see this, click.
Click “Edit” – “Paste” from the menu bar.
The text gets inserted, but it stands on its head and back to front.
That’s pretty hard to read. So we will do something about it.

Hold down the Ctrl key and scroll with your mouse pointer just below the path.
Your mouse cursor should change to a double arrow. I do not have a figure to show this, but you will notice it.
When the cursor changes to double arrow, drag the text up.
The text is now good, but it has to stand in the path and not above as it is now.

Click Ctrl + A on your keyboard to select all the text.
Open the “Character” Palette.
In the “Character” palette you will find the “Baseline” box at the bottom.
Enter a negative value to lower the text.
In this example, -4 is enough and it is more than likely that this is different for your picture.
The same can be achieved with the keys Shift + Alt + down arrow on your keyboard.

Click Enter on your keyboard.
