Liquify (Liquify) (1)

With a very powerful tool “Liquify”, we can distort the pixels in an image.
In the first place, we open, of course, our image.
Then click on “Filter” – “Liquify” … in the menu bar.
This opens the “Liquify”:

On the left, we find a whole set of tools and we will discuss them all.
And on the right we have a whole bunch of options we can set.

But let us begin, because now we have a lot to discuss.

Our friend above looks rather sickly. Let’s try to cheer him.
OK, at the top of our toolbox, we find the “Forward Warp Tool” button. Image01This pushes the pixels ahead when you click and drag with this.
Tool Options:

  • The Brush size determines the diameter of The Brush.
  • The Brush Density determines how much of The Brush is active.
Set it to 0 and you will see that only a small tip of the brush is active.
Set it to 100 and it makes a larger portion of the brush active.
  • Brush Pressure determines the amount of the modification, set it to 100, the modification will be high.
If you set it to 10, then the modification will be small and you will have to frequently repeat your action before you notice a change.

And click and drag slowly in several places in the picture.
If you wish to step back, click Ctrl + Z on your keyboard.
If you want to go back several steps, click Ctrl + Alt + Z repeatedly on your keyboard.
If you would like to go back to the original, click the “Restore All” button, right below the screen.

OK, does it look good now? No.
Did he look good in the beginning? Not at all.

Display options:

When you check the “Show Backdrop” box, you get to see the original of the layer (s).

In the “Show Background” section, we also have some options that we can set.
For example you can display all the layers, you can display them in the foreground and you can view them with a certain transparency.

You should try and see what works best for you.

If the “Show Mesh” option is checked, we get to see a grid.
Again we have some options such as the size of the boxes and color of the grid.
Distort your face, then it adjusts itself to the grid, and deforms it.
