If we want to select certain parts of our photo selection, we can use all these buttons. In other words, you may not be using the same tools to continue.
For example you can first select a rectangle, click the “Add to Selection” button in the Options bar and make a second selection with the “Lasso” Tool for example.

With the “Rectangular Marquee” Tool (Marquee), we can select a rectangle, we hold the Shift key on our keyboard pressed, we select a square.
With the “Elliptical Marquee” Tool (Elliptical Marquee), we can thus select Oval, we hold the Shift key on our keyboard pressed, we select a circle.

“Single row marquee” tool ( Marquee a row) and “single column marquee” tool (Marquee a column) select 1 pixel row or column.

The “Lasso” tool (Lasso), we use for a free selection.
The “Polygonal Lasso” tool (Polygonal Lasso), we use to make a selection from multiple angles.
The “Magnetic Lasso” tool (Magnetic lasso) cements the selection onto the pixels of the image while you drag. The more contrast, the better the tool works.

The “Quick Selection” Tool (Quick Selection) is new from version CS3. It allows you to “draw” a selection using an adjustable round brush tip. As you click and drag, the selection is extended and the selected edges in the image are automatically followed.
With the “Magic Wand” Tool (Wand), you can select a part of the image with a certain color. You set the tolerance of the selection in the Options bar and the selection is determined based on the agreement with the pixel you click.

With the “Move” tool (Move Tool) in the Toolbox, we can move selected regions.
In the next lesson, I will select these tools and put them into practice.
