Custom shapes

To draw a custom shape, we select the “Custom Shape” Tool in the Toolbox or in the Options bar.
We click the downward pointing arrow next to “Shape”:
Click the right pointing arrow and choose “all” from the dropdown menu to view the custom shapes that come with Photoshop.

Click your choice from the list and click the Enter key on your keyboard to make the list disappear.
Something quicker, you may choose to double click, then it disappears too.

Click and drag in the image where you want to have the shape.

As you see in the picture below, this shape has also been given its own layer.

You can add one or more styles to the layer by clicking the “Add Layer Style” button at the bottom of the “Layer” palette:

In this exercise we’ll see how we make our own custom shape through the “Pen” Tool.
For many, not the most pleasant tool to work with, but I assure you, once you can handle this, there is great potential.
